Counterfeit Card

A counterfeit card can be a bankcard that has been fraudulently printed, embossed or encoded to appear genuine however it has not been authorised by VISA or Mastercard or issued by a member.

A counterfeit card can also be a bank card that has been issued by a member but has then been altered without the issuer’s knowledge or consent, rendering it fraudulent.

The most common way for thieves to create counterfeit cards is through internet fraud or chip and pin fraud.
