Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is a faster digital phone transmission service that operates at speeds as high as 128 kilobits per second, compared to a telephone modem connection, which receives web pages at a maximum speed of 56kbps. Integrated Services Digital Network is a set of communication standards for simultaneous digital transmission of voice, video, data and other network services.
In areas where DSL and cable modem service are now offered, ISDN is no longer a popular option.
