Pick Up Card

A bank card becomes a pick up card when the customer attempts to use a visa debit or any other card payment methods at a POS terminal and, after entering chip and pin details, the card gets declined.

The retailer may receive a response from the card issuer that the transaction is being attempted on a visa card that the card issuer would like to be confiscated from the merchant account and returned to the issuer. It is not always possible to confiscate the card, as it is up to the cardholder to hand it in, however the cardholder will be unable to use the card.

This message can occur when attempting a transaction if a cardholder has had their bank card stolen, they have lost the card, they are misusing the account or the issuing bank has closed the account.
