Terminated Merchant File (TMF)

Terminated Merchant File (TMF), also known as Member Alert To Control High Risk (MATCH), contains names of merchants and associated persons. The list is of those who have breached their terms and conditions held with an acquirer and, in turn, their relationship has been terminated.

Alerting the Terminated Merchant File (TMF) of any relationship terminated for negative reasons is a requirement of acquirers. The Terminated Merchant File (TMF) has a sole purpose of preventing listed merchants from creating new merchant accounts with different acquirers, using credit card processors and using Visa merchant services. Termination may be caused by money laundering or fraud and prevents accepting credit cards as a form of payment. Once a merchant lands on the file, it is unlikely that they will be able to create future merchant accounts and the possibility of accepting credit cards is impossible.

Visa and MasterCard operate the Terminated Merchant File (TMF).
