Bank Routing Number

A bank routing number is the first nine digits that appear across the bottom of a personal banking cheque; they identify the financial institution (the bank). It can only be found on cheques, this number is not on debit cards or credit cards. The bank routing number provides a means of directing transactions between one bank and another. A bank routing number is also known as “Routing Transit Number” or “ABA Routing Number”, or in the UK, banks use a “sort code”.
