Bank Identification Number (BIN)

A bank identification number (BIN) is a unique series of numbers assigned by MasterCard or VISA to a bank or savings association that identifies the member in transaction processing. It is the first three to six digits of a standard cardholder account number on a bank card, both a debit card and a credit card, and can be used by the member’s affiliates, if necessary.
