Cheque Card

A cheque card is a bankcard that enables the user to purchase goods and services and obtain cash payments against their asset account. The transaction creates a debit against the cardholder’s account, however there is a delay of 24 to 72 hours before the amount of a purchase is debited from the account, due to the card being “offline” meaning the account is not accessed directly. This is what makes cheque cards different to credit cards and a VISA debit card.

A cheque card is also called an “offline debit card” or “deposit access card”. Cheque cards are no longer used in the UK.
