Host Computer

The host computer is the central computer connected to other computers or terminals to which it provides primary data processing functions, such as computation and database access or computing services via a network, such as a web server for web hosting services. Cloud hosting has become much more popular as it removes the physical element, therefore space, needed for hosting.

A host computer that participates in applications that use the client-server model of computing, are classified as a server.
